Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book a session and what is your availability?

I would prefer to connect with you over the phone to set up our first consultation session and to answer any initial questions you might have.

Once we have booked our first appointment, we can then schedule sessions from one to the next, or you can book more than one session at a time, if that is more convenient for you. If you would prefer to book a fixed slot, that can also be an option.

My current clinic hours are as follows, though these are subject to change depending on availability:

Mondays from 1.30pm to 7pm
Wednesdays from 9.30am to 2pm

How long do sessions last and how often do I ‘have to’ attend?

I ask you to set aside 1h15m for the first session during which we will discuss your therapeutic needs and goals. If this is your first experience with Gestalt, you will also have the chance to get a feel for how the session evolves and start to see whether it is an approach that can work for you. It is important for you to find a therapist and modality that you feel comfortable with.

After this first meeting, all sessions last approximately 50m.

There is no ‘have to’ with regards to session frequency, which is something we can agree on together to ensure we best meet your needs. It is worth pointing out that most evidence-based protocols recommend weekly sessions, particularly when in the initial phase of therapy.

Where would sessions take place and what languages do you speak?

I look forward to welcoming you in person at Hale in Mġarr, Malta. We can also connect online.

I’m happy to work with you in English, Maltese, or Italian.

What is your rate and can I cancel a session?

We can discuss the rate during our initial phone-call. I currently have a few reduced-fee slots for students of Gestalt Psychotherapy. Let me know if this could apply to you when you contact me.

I appreciate that the unexpected can happen to any of us. In general, I require a minimum 24h notice for sessions to be cancelled or rescheduled, or payment may still be incurred.

What if I change my mind about therapy?

This is your therapeutic journey and you are the ship’s captain. You can choose to stop or pause therapy at any given point, you are not bound by any contract to continue for a fixed period of time.

Is what I tell you confidential?

I understand that in coming to therapy, you will be opening up about sensitive matters and you can expect me to maintain confidentiality on whatever emerges.

There are, however, exceptions to this which you need to be aware of. This includes:

  • where there is serious concern about your safety and/or the safety of other persons;

  • when it is ordered by Court;

  • in the case of neglect/abuse of minors and vulnerable adults;

  • if there is suspicion of human trafficking.

What are your qualifications?

I obtained a Masters in Gestalt Psychotherapy from the Gestalt Psychotherapy Training Institute of Malta. Prior to this, I graduated with a Bachelors degree (Honours) in Communications and Sociology from the University of Malta.

I am currently furthering my skills by following a year-long training programme in systemic family constellations.

I have obtained certification in Mental Health First Aid and am a full member of the Malta Association for Psychotherapy for 2024.

If you have any other queries, I'm happy to discuss them together over the phone.

A contract will be sent to you prior to our first session which will cover further matters, including Data Protection provisions. We will go over the contract together in our first session.
